Acting is an art that is rich in history. Now days, actors are paid millions of dollars for a typical movie. They are some of the most recognizable figures in our modern society. There are a variety of colleges and other schools that specialize in teaching people this art. Acting is a very broad term that extends into many forms of entertainment. There are plays, movies, comedy acts, musicals, and other forms of theatre that use the ancient art of acting. Acting has truly evolved to be one of our most popular forms of entertainment. It was not always something people were paid millions of dollars to perform.

The ancient Greeks were the first civilization to really embrace acting as a form of entertainment and art. Greek theater was an amazing production performed in enormous outdoor theaters. These buildings could hold thousands of excited spectators. The Greeks appreciated several different types of plots. They were known for their devastating tragedies and ironic comedies. In Greek theater, acting was an art strictly performed by men. They wore a variety of detailed masks and were known for their lavish consumes. These accessories would help them get into their characters and express the tone of the play. From a social perspective, the actors were held in very high esteem.

The Romans were the next culture that really appreciated acting. Unlike the Greeks, the Romans did not hold the actors in high esteem. The actors were slaves and the level of performance was very low. During the Christian period in Rome, acting almost disappeared completely. There were a few groups of entertainers that performed different tragedies at fairs and other large social gatherings.

Professional acting didn’t fully develop until that late 16th century with the Italian Commedia dell’ arte. This was a group of professional entertainers that did improvised acting. They would have a general script of the different events that were to happen, but had the freedom to take the plot in several different directions.

The word acting is derived from the Latin word “pretentious.” “To speak with an accent” is the literal translation. This is the central essence of the actor’s job. The actor is supposed to get in character and behave as the subject would. This is not nearly as easy as it sounds. Many people that have not explored acting think it is very easy. They go to the movies and think they could do as well as the person that’s on the big screen. Obviously, they have not had any formal experience. There are a variety of different schools that center their education on acting. A lot of these cost large amounts of money and have no guarantees of success for their students. There are also a lot of different talent agencies that focus on developing actors. They work to improve their client’s capacity for acting with the hope that it will increase their overall value. Because acting is used in so many different aspects of entertainment, it has become essential. There are several great local talent agencies that offer these kinds of classes. TRU Talent Agency is one that has been highly recommended. They have worked to develop and place several aspiring actors. Napoleon Dynamite is a famous movie that used actors who trained at TRU Talent Management.

Acting is a skill that has been around for many centuries. People will always find entertainment from seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. If your dream is to develop this age-old talent, maybe it is time to find a local talent agency. TRU Talent has established offices in both Utah and Nevada.
